Accessibility

The Coopérative AccessibilitéWeb is dedicated to ensuring that persons with disabilities can access this Web site without any difficulties. Any current content, new content, or content modified by our organization will comply with level Triple-A of the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0

Should you find anything on this site that is not compliant with these standards, please contact us.

Conformance to standards

All the content on this site was evaluated for accessibility problems before it was placed online. We achieved this by :

  • structuring all our pages with section headers;
  • providing text equivalents for all informational images and preventing decorative images from being read;
  • explicitly associating labels and fields;
  • identifying tables with row headers and associating data cells to header cells for complex tables;
  • adding a summary of each table for people using a screen reader and who lack an overall view of the screen;
  • creating links with explicit content so they can be understood when read out of context;
  • differentiating content and structure from presentation by using CSS;
  • identifying the main language of the page and any changes in language within the text for assistive technologies;
  • using valid code and CSS;
  • avoiding the use of windows that open automatically;
  • developing a coherent and easy to understand navigation system;
  • using the simplest possible language given the technical nature of certain content;
  • providing a link to skip the navigation and access content directly.

Evaluation tools used

AccessibilitéWeb uses Év–A, a tool developed for the 2003 and 2007 evaluations, to ensure the said level of accessibility.

Validation tools

All the pages of this Web site were also evaluated using the validation tools proposed by the W3C for CSS and XHTML.
